JEDI & Human Rights Commitment
At HAYVN, we believe business has the power to create opportunity, strengthen communities, and improve people’s lives.
Our purpose is grounded in the belief that when entrepreneurs and small business owners come together, magic happens — for people, for community, and in service of the planet.
We recognize that creating a more inclusive and sustainable economy requires more than good intentions. It requires respect for human dignity, a commitment to justice and equity, and an ongoing effort to identify and remove barriers that prevent people from participating, belonging, and thriving.
HAYVN is committed to advancing Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) and respecting the human rights of the people affected by our business.
Our Commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
HAYVN seeks to create a community where people from different backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives feel welcomed, respected, safe, and able to participate.
We are committed to:
- Justice: Recognizing and addressing barriers, inequities, and practices that may prevent people or communities from having fair access to opportunity, resources, participation, and voice.
- Equity: Striving for fairness in our policies, practices, opportunities, and decision-making while recognizing that people and communities may have different needs and experiences.
- Diversity: Valuing diversity of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, ability, socioeconomic background, religion, culture, lived experience, perspective, and other dimensions of human difference.
- Inclusion: Creating an environment where people are treated with dignity and respect, their perspectives are valued, and they can participate meaningfully in the HAYVN community.
We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, or exclusionary behavior within our workplace or community.
We strive to ensure that our workspace, programs, events, communications, and business practices are accessible and welcoming to the diverse people we serve.
Our Commitment to Human Rights
HAYVN recognizes that human rights belong to every person and that businesses have a responsibility to respect the rights and dignity of the people they affect.
Our commitment is guided by internationally recognized principles, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
We are committed to respecting human rights across our operations and relationships, including our interactions with:
- Employees and workers
- Members and customers
- Event participants and community members
- Suppliers, contractors, speakers, coaches, and other partners
- Local communities affected by our activities
We seek to protect fundamental principles including dignity, equality, non-discrimination, freedom from harassment and abuse, privacy, safety, fair treatment, and respect for fundamental rights at work.
We also recognize that human rights risks can arise through business relationships and supply chains. We will consider these impacts when making relevant decisions about suppliers, partners, programs, and other business relationships.
Creating a Safe & Respectful Community
HAYVN is committed to maintaining an environment where people can work, connect, learn, and collaborate without fear of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or abuse.
We encourage people to raise concerns when they experience or observe conduct that is inconsistent with these commitments.
HAYVN will provide appropriate channels for concerns and grievances to be raised and will seek to respond to concerns respectfully, fairly, and without retaliation for good-faith reporting.
Where harm occurs, we will seek to understand what happened, take appropriate action, and learn from the experience to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
Accessibility & Belonging
We believe inclusion also means considering whether people can meaningfully access and participate in the HAYVN community.
We strive to consider accessibility in our physical spaces, programs, events, communications, and community experiences and to respond appropriately to requests for reasonable accommodations.
We also recognize that financial, social, cultural, physical, and other barriers can affect people’s ability to participate. Where practical and appropriate, we seek opportunities to reduce unnecessary barriers and expand access to the opportunities and connections available through HAYVN.
Listening, Learning & Accountability
JEDI and human rights are ongoing commitments, not one-time initiatives.
We will listen to the experiences and perspectives of our workers, members, partners, and broader community and use that feedback to inform our policies, programs, partnerships, and business decisions.
We recognize that we will not always get everything right. When we identify a gap, unintended impact, or area where we can do better, we will seek to acknowledge it, learn from it, and take appropriate action.
Leadership is responsible for supporting these commitments and ensuring that they are reflected in how HAYVN operates.
Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement
HAYVN will periodically review our JEDI and human rights practices and consider relevant stakeholder feedback, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement.
We will seek to translate this commitment into action through our workplace practices, community programming, accessibility efforts, supplier and partner relationships, communications, grievance processes, and other areas of our business.
Our goal is not simply to create a diverse community, but to help build a community where people are treated with dignity, have meaningful opportunities to participate and connect, and feel that they belong.
We believe business can be a force for greater inclusion, equity, dignity, and opportunity — and we are committed to putting that belief into practice at HAYVN.
