Darien is the quaint and cozy hometown of HAYVN in Fairfield County! No matter where you live in this community, you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump away from one of its serene beaches, exceptionally quaint downtown, verdant nature preserves, parks, and numerous social clubs and hot spots.
Enjoy a beautiful sunset? Visit Pear Tree Point Beach any time of the year for a perfect sunset, in addition to fun beach activities. Weed Beach, on the Long Island Sound, is a smaller beach with a play area for children, paddle and tennis courts, boat launch, windsurfing, bath house, concessions and early Sunday morning a local Church holds outdoor services on the sand.
Insider tip — Weed Beach is also a terrific evening spot to watch Stamford’s Independence Day fireworks (from Cove Island Park) before enjoying Darien’s own fireworks at Darien High School.
Are you a history buff? Explore history at The Mather Homestead built in 1778 during the Revolutionary War. Also worth a visit is the Darien Historical Society with its exhibit in an 1827 barn. The 18th-century Bates-Scofield House, built in 1736, is an excellent example of New England Saltbox architecture.
Darien has numerous parks to enjoy, all with different charms. A stone’s throw from the Darien Train Station is a gem of a park, Tilley Pond Park, complete with a fountain in its pond, waterfowl, a gazebo and walking path around the pond with a quaint bridge in the middle. Beautiful trees make this a shady walk on a warm day.
Downtown Darien has many tasty restaurants in walking distance from the train and a mixture of quaint shops for a stroll.
For some indoor fun all year round, visit the Darien Ice House which has public hours for ice skating as well as lessons.
