Fairfield is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has three Historic Districts of varying architectural styles. There are approximately 75 historic buildings dating back to 1639 when the first English settlement was established in the area. Fun Fact: Fairfield was targeted during the Revolutionary War by the British!
When you explore the Town Green you’ll find the Fairfield Museum and History Center. A great place to picnic, it also has wonderful galleries, research library, reading room, and 80-seat theatre.
The Kid’s Cottage has hands-on activities and resources for families with younger children. A visit to The Victorian Barn (1888) and The Sun Tavern (c. 1780) embraces past and present agriculture and life at a local tavern.
Home of several wonderful performing arts venues, Fairfield University’s The Quick Center has high caliber visual and performing arts. Once on campus, you can also visit the Fairfield University Art Museum. Other performing arts venues in Fairfield include Fairfield Theatre Company, Stage One, and The Warehouse at FTC.
Fairfield, CT beaches are numerous and varied and they’re worth exploring: Jennings Beach, Penfield Beach, South Pine Creek Beach, Sasco Beach, and Southport Beach.
