About The Event
You know the person. Standing up front, reading their own bullet points out loud, while the room quietly checks out behind them. Word soup slides, a Microsoft font nobody chose on purpose, that 4:3 ratio that hasn’t made sense since screens got wide. And usually, for good measure, every single bullet flying in from the side one at a time like it’s 2003 and PowerPoint just discovered animation for the first time.
Don’t be that person.
It’s called a visual aid for a reason. But somewhere along the way people forgot what both of those words mean. Visual means images, graphics, something for the eyes. Aid means it’s there to help you, not replace you. When a slide is doing the talking, that slide has your job, and it’s not even getting paid for it. With how fast AI is moving, it might be the one collecting a paycheck before you do.
And your audience feels the difference whether they can name it or not. People can’t read and listen at the same time. Given the choice, they’ll read every time, which means while you’re talking, they’re reading ahead, and by the time they look back up they’ve lost the thread of what you said. So they stop listening. They snap a photo to read later and spend the rest of your talk scrolling their phone instead, because that’s a better use of their next ten minutes than watching you compete with your own deck.
Then the animations show up and finish the job. Words flying in from the side, bullets popping one by one, transitions that spin and swoosh. None of it makes anyone understand you better. It just gives the room one more thing to watch that isn’t you.
The fix isn’t complicated, it’s just not what most people were ever taught. Simple, clean imagery your audience can actually read from the back row. Fewer words per slide than you think you need, because the rule of thumb everyone was taught is still too many. And when your content needs more slides, use more slides. Nobody ever left a talk complaining there were too many of them, they complain when one slide is doing the work of five. Build your content first, time it right and let the slide count land wherever it lands. Less on each slide is what makes each one powerful.
That’s the whole philosophy. Your slides back you up. They don’t carry you.

Then you’ll roll up your sleeves and do the same to your own deck*, with me circling the room the whole time, working with you 1:1 as you go.
Bring a laptop and a deck that needs some love. Old one, new one, one you’re already dreading presenting, doesn’t matter. If it exists, we can fix it.
You’ll walk out with a deck that finally does its actual job, backing you up instead of showing you up.

Parking & Getting to HAYVN Greenwich
- HAYVN Greenwich is located between exits 5 & 6 off I-95.
- Our building is right next to the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Entrance is first building on right as you enter circular driveway.
- Use HAYVN’s main outside entrance to access the space (See video and map)
- Park on the HAYVN designated spaces or on parking lot 1 or 2. Either parking lot is only a few steps away from our Main entrance!
- Please only park in the designated HAYVN spaces or unmarked spots. Parking in spaces reserved for other companies may result in your vehicle being towed by the building management.
Accessibility Parking & Entry – HAYVN Greenwich
- Accessible parking is available in Lot 2, located behind the building. This lot has ADA-compliant spaces next to an entrance with elevator access to the second floor, where you’ll find HAYVN Greenwich (Suite 208).
- Please note: The main HAYVN entrance in the circular driveway is not wheelchair accessible. For step-free access, please use Lot 2 and enter through the back of the building.
- The accessible entrance does not have an automatic door opener, but a receptionist is usually available to help if needed.
