HAYVN’S Handy Guide of Community Resources for Someone Moving to Fairfield County

As the New York tri-state area reopens, many are no longer comfortable living in the dense and heavily populated confines of New York City. We at HAYVN, a Darien coworking space, would love to welcome you to Fairfield County, a collection of beautiful towns just 45 minutes from The City. Many of us have lived in NYC and/or commuted there. Some, for our entire career. To move to Fairfield County is to live around the corner from the city you love, but in a place where social distancing is far easier and nature provides a much-needed escape.

On a Zoom mastermind session this spring, HAYVN member Rachel Walsh of Compass Real Estate reported the recent influx of New Yorkers. She recommended creating a resource page for new arrivals who might need flexible office space. So, we set out to build a handy guide to give you the inside scoop on the County’s most prominent and accessible towns to HAYVN:

Darien

Darien is the quaint and cozy hometown of HAYVN! No matter where you live in this community, you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump away from one of its serene beaches, exceptionally quaint downtowns and verdant nature preserves. See our HAYVN HUB Darien Hotspots Directory.

Fairfield

The County’s namesake, Fairfield has some of Connecticut’s most pristine beaches. It is also home to Lake Mohegan, a man-made freshwater lake that’s perfect for a refreshing summertime dip or a stroll in the surrounding hiking trails. See our HAYVN HUB Fairfield Hot Spots Directory.

Greenwich

The largest town in Fairfield County and the closest to New York, Greenwich comprises several unique neighborhoods including Riverside, Cos Cob, and Old Greenwich. With over a dozen beautiful public parks, this town might just be the green space you’ve been missing in your urban life. See our HAYVN HUB Greenwich Hot Spots Directory.

New Canaan

New Canaan is known for its boutique-filled classic town center, diverse architecture, and expansive public parks. It has the most highly ranked public school system in the state of Connecticut and one of the best in the nation. See our HAYVN HUB New Canaan Hot Spots Directory.

Norwalk

Norwalk is an eclectic seaside town with everything from a world-class aquarium to a brand new mall right off of I-95. We’re sure you’re familiar with SoHo, but SoNo, the spirited and dynamic downtown of South Norwalk, is a must-see…and taste. Like Stamford, Norwalk offers the town and country lifestyle to some; and to others a distinctly southwestern Connecticut urban vibe. See our HAYVN HUB Norwalk Hot Spots Directory.

Stamford

Stamford is actually a small city, with a vibrant, diverse and flourishing culture. It boasts a thriving restaurant scene (more restaurants per capita than Manhattan), many of which are reopening with outdoor seating and social distancing safety measures. Its Harbor Point neighborhood is home to a booming community of young professionals and a charming New England meets NYC hustle-bustle seaside port. See our HAYVN HUB Stamford Hot Spots Directory.

Westport

Westport is a hidden gem with charming coastal neighborhoods that offer a variety of local coffee shops and restaurants. The town is characterized by a healthy, flowing river, a dreamy peninsula, islands thriving with wildlife, and beautiful white sand beaches. Aside from its natural attributes, Westport is also known for the quality of its education system and its dedication to the arts. See our HAYVN HUB Westport Hot Spots Directory.

Which town most draws your fancy? If you’re not so sure, we’ve compiled a comprehensive database of resources to help you out. Whether you want to know the best parks, sources of entertainment or moving companies, we’ve got you covered. Now get exploring!
