SUMMARY:SlideLab — Stop Letting Your Slides Steal the Mic at HAYVN Greenwich (brought to you by SPEAC Success)
DESCRIPTION:Sponsored Content \nSlideLab: Stop Letting Your Slides Steal the Mic at HAYVN Greenwich! (brought to you by SPEAC Success) \nThursday\, 9/17/26: 1pm-5pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrought to you by: Shannon Malkin Daniels\, founder of SPEAC Success\, Instagram\, LinkedIn \nHAYVN Coworking\, 1700 E Putnam Ave Ste 208\, Old Greenwich\, CT 06870\, USA \n\n$425 per session: Your ticket covers your seat for the session\, plus intervention fuel: coffee\, tea and crunchy snacks.\n\nOpen to all. Registration required to reserve your spot. Capped at 15 people. \nSIGN UP  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Event\n\n\n\n\n\nYou know the person. Standing up front\, reading their own bullet points out loud\, while the room quietly checks out behind them. Word soup slides\, a Microsoft font nobody chose on purpose\, that 4:3 ratio that hasn’t made sense since screens got wide. And usually\, for good measure\, every single bullet flying in from the side one at a time like it’s 2003 and PowerPoint just discovered animation for the first time. \nDon’t be that person. \nIt’s called a visual aid for a reason. But somewhere along the way people forgot what both of those words mean. Visual means images\, graphics\, something for the eyes. Aid means it’s there to help you\, not replace you. When a slide is doing the talking\, that slide has your job\, and it’s not even getting paid for it. With how fast AI is moving\, it might be the one collecting a paycheck before you do. \nAnd your audience feels the difference whether they can name it or not. People can’t read and listen at the same time. Given the choice\, they’ll read every time\, which means while you’re talking\, they’re reading ahead\, and by the time they look back up they’ve lost the thread of what you said. So they stop listening. They snap a photo to read later and spend the rest of your talk scrolling their phone instead\, because that’s a better use of their next ten minutes than watching you compete with your own deck. \nThen the animations show up and finish the job. Words flying in from the side\, bullets popping one by one\, transitions that spin and swoosh. None of it makes anyone understand you better. It just gives the room one more thing to watch that isn’t you. \nThe fix isn’t complicated\, it’s just not what most people were ever taught. Simple\, clean imagery your audience can actually read from the back row. Fewer words per slide than you think you need\, because the rule of thumb everyone was taught is still too many. And when your content needs more slides\, use more slides. Nobody ever left a talk complaining there were too many of them\, they complain when one slide is doing the work of five. Build your content first\, time it right and let the slide count land wherever it lands. Less on each slide is what makes each one powerful. \nThat’s the whole philosophy. Your slides back you up. They don’t carry you. \nSlideLab is where you actually build that. \nThis is a half day\, hands on working session\, capped at 15 people. Send your deck ahead of time. I’ll pull real slides from real submissions\, show you exactly what’s not working and rebuild them with you\, live\, in the room\, so you see the thinking\, not just the result. \nThen you’ll roll up your sleeves and do the same to your own deck*\, with me circling the room the whole time\, working with you 1:1 as you go. \nBring a laptop and a deck that needs some love. Old one\, new one\, one you’re already dreading presenting\, doesn’t matter. If it exists\, we can fix it. \nYou’ll walk out with a deck that finally does its actual job\, backing you up instead of showing you up. \nFifteen people\, max. Because this only works if I actually get to your slides. \n\n\n\n\n \nAbout Shannon Malkin Daniels\nShannon Malkin Daniels is a Public Speaking & Authenticity Coach who’s passionate about helping business owners and professionals find their true voice and share their stories with confidence. She knows firsthand the struggle of being in environments that push you to conform—having grown up in highly-regulated corporate settings where she was conditioned to speak\, dress and act in a certain way. But when she transitioned to entrepreneurship\, Shannon realized that despite her polished presentation skills\, something was missing. She wasn’t making genuine connections. \nIt wasn’t until Shannon fully embraced her authentic self—quirks\, unique perspective\, and all—that she started building those deep\, meaningful connections. Inspired by this transformation\, she founded SPEAC Success to help others do the same. Her mission? To empower people to communicate with heart\, create real connections and lead with authenticity. \nWith over a decade of coaching experience\, Shannon also works with organizations to develop their employees’ communication skills\, fostering a culture where authenticity thrives. As a professional speaker and TEDx speaker\, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her work\, drawing from her time teaching at Columbia and Iona Universities and her master’s degree in interpersonal communication from the University of Central Florida. \n \n \nQuestions?
